Commencing in October 2025

Dr Keri Grieman will join the Institute in October as an Early Career Research Fellow in Ethics in AI (AI and Law) and a research fellow at Oriel College. She is an Associate Member of Oxford’s Department of Computer Science. Keri is the author of Law, Death, and Robots: The Regulation of Artificial Intelligence in High-Risk Civil Applications, published by Hart. 

Currently, Keri is a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Microsoft-funded Cloud Legal Project at Queen Mary University of London. She has also been a Postdoctoral Researcher for the Responsible Technology Institute in Oxford, and the Google Policy Fellow at the Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic. She is called to the bar in Ontario, Canada; provides judicial training to EU and UK judiciaries in law and technology; and is a member of the CEPS Taskforce on the European approach to liability for the AI age. 

Research interests:

Keri is a technology-law focused researcher with interests in the regulation and applications of emerging technologies. Her research aims to bridge the gaps between law and technology with the aim of responsible innovation. Recent explorations have included liability and large language models; AI in interactive entertainment; robot accident investigation; and the role of regulation in high-risk, high-reward AI applications.
