The Institute welcomes applications for Academic Visitor status from individuals holding an established teaching or research position at another university, who wish to spend between one and three terms at Oxford to pursue independent research.
Eligibility is limited to those whose research aligns closely with the Institute’s academic focus. Holders of prestigious postdoctoral fellowships, such as those awarded by the British Academy, Royal Society, or Wellcome Trust, are eligible to apply, whereas individuals in temporary academic roles or those still completing their doctorates are not normally considered.
Please note that Academic Visitors are expected to work independently during their stay. The Institute does not provide academic supervision or formal support from faculty members.
Applicants are responsible for securing their own funding, as the Institute does not provide financial assistance to visiting scholars. However, in exceptional circumstances, the Institute may consider waiving associated costs.
Please refer to the Visitor Policy for a step-by-step guide on (1) how to apply, (2) the schedule of fees, and (3) essential supplementary information.
